Many people do not know there are several risks associated in using floral saddles.
First of all, the saddles only have rubber on a small portion of the wire. As a result, after being exposed to rain and other environmental conditions, the wire will rust. The rust will then leave stains on the granite or even marble that is often impossible to get completely removed. Aside from the rust stains, the saddles can easily scratch Jet Black and other dark colored, highly polished granite headstones. Lastly, the saddles can be challenging to fit on some headstones given the width. Then the weather makes it even more challenging in trying to keep the saddles intact. We have seen floral saddles blown off and laying in the cemetery. We have even seen people get creative securing them in place with fishing line, thus making it a tripping hazard. Ammons Grave Restoration just wants you to be aware of the risk you could be taking when using a floral saddle. If you are choosing a saddle because you are unsure what other options you might have, please give us a call at 706-892-8844 and we can discuss various other alternatives with you.
