Cleaning monuments

At Ammons Grave Restoration, we often have customers asking about ways they can clean and restore their own memorials. Many times, the conversation turns to a discussion about pressure washing. We strongly discourage family members and others from using high pressure washers to clean any kind of stones.  
Marble is particularly delicate and is severely damaged with chemicals and high pressure. As durable and long lasting as Granite stone is, chemicals and pressurized water can very easily harm the polished surface and cause irreparable damage that can only be fixed by replacing the stone.  
We have developed several gentle ways of restoring stone work through years of experience and following guidelines set in place by the U.S. National Park Service. We do not use any acids or bleach products on stones we are working on. Our company also uses a specially developed soft wash that uses water volume over high pressure for safe rinsing.
